The path begins with the character arming himself with only an axe and a pickaxe. The starting task is to get wood to build a basic shelter, because dangerous zombies and demons go hunting at night. After this, the stage of cave exploration begins – the user must mine metals such as copper, iron and gold to create the best armor and weapons for himself.
Gradually, the gameplay develops into a fight with stronger opponents and even bosses, such as the Eye of Cthulhu or the Wall of Flesh. The passage becomes more and more difficult, but also more interesting, thanks to new opportunities and discoveries. The hero must learn to use all available resources and build a competent tactic to overcome emerging obstacles.
The system is incredibly multifaceted. Each boss requires its own tactics and strategy. For example, the Eye of Cthulhu is the first serious enemy you will encounter. It attacks quickly and unpredictably, which requires quick reactions and competent use of ranged weapons.
Later, the Wall of Flesh appears – one of the most difficult bosses, which is a huge fleshy barrier that moves across the entire screen, absorbing everything in its path. To defeat it, you need to choose the right weapon and prepare the territory for the battle in order to avoid traps and make the battle more manageable.
Multiplayer allows players to team up for a joint playthrough. Playing is especially fun, as each user can choose their role: one is engaged in building and defending the base, another goes on reconnaissance, and the third prepares potions and crafts weapons.
